Our Story

Family recipes, made from scratch

El Taquito opened on Mission Blvd in Hayward in 1976, started by Francisco "Paco" Padilla and his wife, Aurora. Nearly fifty years later, the family is still cooking, and every dish is still made fresh from their family recipes.

Many of our guests grew up eating here. They came as kids with their parents, and now they bring their own children to the same tables.

“I have never had a bad meal here, regardless of what I order. My favorite are the crispy tacos. Small spot, not a fan of the restaurant decor. But I don't have a problem eating at the outside tables. Occasionally I just call in my order to go. The service is good. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because it is a little pricey compared to most taquerias that I have been to.”
